Death Dot arrives!

Death Dot is my first published Young Adult Science Fiction novel and was, in a sense, a prose sigh after taking nearly five years to complete another work, Dreamnesia.

Death Dot was conceptualized over July 2016, outlined in August and written in a focused frenzy over the first three weeks of September (once the children were back in school!). Its main character, Ivy, lives in a world where death is constantly anticipated, and comes with a warning. A signal. A countdown that cannot be altered. Death can come only one way: when a death dot turns white. White 10, to be precise. While the people in Ivy's world cannot experience arbitrary or accidental death in a way that you or I might, comparisons can me drawn between her world and ours. Medical science and advances in technology illuminate us about our survival just as the death dot prepares those in Ivy's world. And in many ways we are inadvertently trying to achieve an existence such as Ivy's. However, because she is human... we are human... none of the ruinous human traits have escaped even those who know exactly how long they will live. Ivy's story is one that demonstrates a uniquely human condition: the need to belong, to be loved, and to be accepted. No matter how old you are.

Ivy's story of course does not end here. To appreciate the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics that inspired Death Dot, there will be many more Ivies to come... starting off in the same seaside town... but making different choices than the ones we've read in this first novel... introducing us to other worlds like ours--hers--yet equally compelling, equally possible.

Death Dot is currently available on Amazon here.
